Abstract
The author examines the establishment Greek schools in Montreal, starting with the Platon School established in 1910, the first Greek school in North America, and Socrate School established in 1925. In 1931, the Platon School merged with the Socrate School. Over the rest of the twentieth century, as the Greek community in Montreal expanded, more schools developed, including the Aristotle secondary school in the 1970s. In the 1980s, eleven Greek community organizations developed academic activities, as well as folk dance lessons, theater workshops and sports activities. Meanwhile, the Socrate school expanded, with facilities in Montreal, St. Hubert, and Laval.
