Abstract |
The autobiography of Rev. Charles Freshman (1819-1875), a Christian convert from Judaism. The autobiography contains information on the German- and English-speaking Jewish congregation in Quebec City in the 1840s and 1850s, and also illustrates Christian prejudice towards the "...useless ceremonies and customs" of Jews in nineteenth century Canada.
