Les tests de langue
Abstract
The authors outline the provisions of Bill 22, the Official Language Act passed by Quebec's National Assembly in 1974, dealing with the language tests administered to immigrant children to determine if they had a sufficient knowledge of English to attend an English school in the province. Those without a sufficient knowledge were streamed into the French school system. The law was replaced by Bill 101, the Charter of the French Language, in 1977.
