Abstract
A sympathetic biography of Frederich Haldimand (1718-1791), the Swiss-born Governor of Quebec from 1778 to 1784. This was a period when the American colonies were in revolt and it was thought that the French Canadians were tempted to side with the American rebels in hopes that Quebec would again become a French territory.
