Title
School Finance in Greater Montreal: An Analysis and Accompanying Proposal
Abstract
An analysis of the methods and means by which the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal and the Commission des écoles catholiques de Montréal (the Montreal Catholic School Commission), from 1945 to 1965, attempted to equalize the process of assessing valuation on property, the levying of the mill rate, and the collecting of school taxes. The author proposes that a neutral school board system, for the financing of education, would be more practical and equitable.
