Abstract |
The author traces the development of the twenty-eight private English-language secondary schools that existed in Quebec in the 1970s in light of the recommendations of the Parent Commission and the Private Education Act of 1968. The author describes each school's classification, administration, curriculum, and finances. The author lists eight "traditional" (i.e. non-denominational) schools; five Catholic schools; eight Jewish schools; and seven "alternate" schools.
