To Build the Dream: The Story of the Early Greek Immigrants in Montreal
|
| Abstract |
The Hellenes in Montreal date to the late 1800s. In 1876, a Greek immigrant from Crete named Zervoudakis owned a confectionery company on St. Paul Street in Old Montreal and won first prize at the 1877 Quebec exhibition for the exceptional sweets he produced. In the 1880s, a well-known Greek restaurant called Geracimo was located on St. Catherine Street East.
