| Abstract |
Using 2001 and 2006 census data, the study finds that sixty to eighty percent of English speakers in Quebec use English with their doctors, except in the Quebec City region where the percentage drops to twenty percent. With regards to nursing staff and social service providers (social workers, psycholigists) thirty-seven to fifty-eight percent of English speakers communicate with these professionals in English, except in Quebec City where the percentage drops to eleven percent.
