Etude d'une papeterie de type familial et de son impact économique local: J. Ford and Co. Limited
|
Abstract |
A history of the J. Ford and Company pulp and paper mill in Portneuf, Quebec. The roots of the company can be traced to a mill started in 1843 by Angus McDonald, who sold it in 1857 to George Burns Symes, a Quebec City merchant. In 1869, Joseph Ford and Alexander Logan acquired the mill, then it was acquired by Louis Dupont in 1874, New England Paper Company in 1885, Maple Card and Paper Mills in 1897, and finally by J. Ford and Company in 1900. It remained in business under that name until 2001.
