|
Abstract |
The British-born engraver W.S. Leney (1769-1831) immigrated to New York in 1805, travelled to various parts of eastern Canada starting in 1812, and settled permanently in Quebec in 1820. He bought a 400-acre farm in Longue Pointe, now part of Montreal’s east-end industrial and residential Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. The author describes some of Leney's art work.
