Abstract
The author outlines the debates in Lower Canada's Legislative Assembly over the development of transportation networks in the colony, particularly canals, but also roads, bridges and railways. The author concludes that political discussion in Lower Canada's Legislative Assembly between 1828 and 1840 were not directly related to the development of efficient transportation systems.
