Abstract |
Looks back over more than sixty years of the 9th floor restaurant of Montreal's former downtown Eaton's store. Designed in the Art Deco style to evoke the dining rooms of great ocean liners, the women's restaurant served as a meeting place for friends, for special occasions, and as a respite from shopping. Waitresses reminisce about standards of service and their special clients. Women patrons relate what the restaurant meant to them, their mothers and their daughters. The 9th floor of the building is now closed off to the public.
