| Abstract |
An analysis of the development and characteristics of the governance of the Montreal suburbs of Westmount, Pointe Claire and Town of Mount Royal. The author argues that the way in which these territories became municipalities, their electoral practices, and the main actors participating in their governance from the end of the nineteenth century to the beginning of the Second World War shows that they were the sites of a distinct mode of governance that was unique to middle-class Anglophone suburbs and that was adapted to the needs and interests of their inhabitants.
