The Uses of the Hasidic Story: Rabbi Yudel Rosenberg and His Tales of the Greiditzer Rabbi
|
| Abstract |
The Polish-born Rabbi Yudel Rosenberg (1859-1935) immigrated to Canada in 1913 and moved to Montreal in 1919. In Montreal he became the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Orthodox Congregations of Montreal, a coalition of synagogues serving immigrant Ashkenazi communities too impoverished to hire their own rabbis, and vice-chairman of the Jewish Community's Rabbinic Council.
