The Creative Economy and the English Speaking Communities in Quebec
Abstract
The author's preliminary research results on her examination of the concept of "creative economy" in the context of the English-speaking communities in Quebec, specifically the ways that the creative economy contributes to the socio-economic development of the arts, culture and heritage sectors of these communities. She points out challenges facing English-speaking Quebecers in the creative economy, including funding obstacles, uneven rural-urban development, discrimination against newcomers, and linguistic-cultural barriers.
