| Abstract |
An address by Rabbi Dr. Harry Joshua Stern (1897-1984) given at Montreal's Temple Emanu-El. Rabbi Stern was born in Lithuania. He came to Montreal from Pennsylvania in 1927 when he was appointed rabbi of Temple Emann-El, Montreal's first Reform (liberal) Jewish congregation. He retired in 1972. Rabbi Stern preached the principles of Reform Judaism with an emphasis on the social responsibility.
