Origine historique de la situation linguistique québécoise
|
Abstract |
According to the author, the French language in Quebec suffered from the "rupture" of its linguistic evolution following the British conquest of New France, which led to the anglicization of the economy, commerce, industry, politics (especially at the federal level), the armed forces, the public service, and (today) science and technology. The author also outlines the sorry state of education in Quebec, except for the Francophone elite, before 1960.
