Abstract |
The author includes incidents of the Orange Order's influence in Quebec politics and affairs, from the annexationist movement of 1849 to the First world War. The Orange Order was a Protestant fraternal organization, with strong anti-Catholic views, that originated in Northern Ireland in 1795 and was brought to Canada by Irish Protestant and Scottish immigrants.
