Abstract
Herman “Jackrabbit” Johannsen (1875-1987) was a pioneer in North America of what became the sport of cross-country skiing. In the 1920s and 1930s, he cut the first cross-country ski trails in the Laurentians, including the famous Maple Leaf Trail from Ste. Agathe to Shawbridge.
