Title
A Letter to the Right Rev. the Lord Bishop of Quebec, on Subjects Connected with Tractarianism in the Church
Abstract
Tractarianism, specifically the Oxford Movement, was a movement of High Church Anglicans whose members argued for the reinstatement of lost Christian traditions of faith and their inclusion into Anglican liturgy and theology. They conceived of the Anglican Church as one of three branches of the Catholic Church. The author opposed the principles of Tractarianism, which he argued was "stealthily, but steadily, developing themselves in our midst."
