Literacy Quebec : COVID-19 Survey Report
|
Abstract |
Literacy Quebec surveyed eleven organizations on the needs and
challenges of their students and volunteers in dealing with the novel coronavirus pandemic, known simply as COVID-19. Literacy Quebec represents community-based literacy organizations which serve Quebec Anglophone families and individuals. The survey found that the biggest challenge adult learners and volunteers faced was access to hardware (computer, tablet, or laptop) for online learning, and training on getting online and/or accessing digital learning tools. The survey also found that access to a broadband or WiFi connection was also a problem. Volunteers also found that keeping students engaged was a challenge. Only three of the eleven organizations were registering
new students at the time of the survey. All eleven organizations identified limited (or reduced) access to their office as one of the most significant changes or challenges they were facing.
