Abstract |
A biographical sketch of Alexander Fraser (c.1729-1799) who served with the 78th Foot (Fraser's Highlanders) in the campaigns of the Seven Years' War, and who remained in Quebec after the Conquest when his regiment was disbanded. In August 1763 he purchased the seigneury of La Martinière, near Quebec City. He added the adjoining seigneury of Vitré in 1775 and that of Saint-Gilles, approximately twenty miles above Quebec City, in 1782.
