In 1761, Governor James Murray ceded the Seigneury of Mount Murray in present-day Charlevoix county, from La Malbaie to Saint-Siméon, to one of his Scottish officers, Malcolm Fraser (1733-1815). The author outlines the economic development of this area to 1861 by the Fraser family, and the daily life of the inhabitants of the seigneury.
