Abstract
The author describes the establishment of the British colonial government in Quebec following the Cession, and also includes a brief description of the ten-year long "agitation" by members of the English-speaking mercantile party to have their rights recognized in the new British colony, as prescribed in the Royal Proclamation of 1763.
