Italian Art and Artists in Nineteenth-Century Québec: A Few Preliminary Observations
|
Abstract |
The author describes the various pieces of art (mostly paintings) imported from Italy into Quebec during the early to mid 1800s, and then turns his attention to the Italian Canadian artists themselves -- their training under the great masters of Italy, and their eventual return to Quebec to produce their own works in the artistic media of the day (sculpture, painting, plaster, etc).
