Abstract |
The author was born in Douglastown in 1870. His wife, Clementine Conley, was born a year earlier, also in Douglastown. The author left school and began working as a fisherman when he was twelve years old, fishing off of Anticosti Island. He would leave home for the fishing grounds in early June and return in October. In the winter, he cut logs to earn money.
