English-Speaking Quebec in the Light of Its Reaction to Bill 22
|
| Abstract |
In 1974, the Quebec Liberal government enacted Bill 22, making French the sole official language of the province and streaming immigrant children into French-language schools unless they could pass an English-language competence test. The author examines the reaction towards this legislation by English Quebecers from a personal and sociological view.
