| Abstract |
The history of the Irish Protestant Orange Order movement in Pontiac County, western Quebec. There were nineteen "Loyal Orange Lodges" opened in Pontiac County between 1843 and 1919. The author describes the function of an Orange Lodge as "an educational institution for adults that taught them life skills and life values." She also describes the benevolent and social role that these Lodges played in Pontiac communities.
