Abstract |
The author notes that in the late 1920s and the early 1930s, a group of young Montreal posts - A.J.M. Smith, F.R. Scott, A.M. Klein, Leo Kennedy, and Dorothy Livesay - interested in contemporary poetic enterprises abroad, began to contribute to the modern revival of Canadian poetry. The work of these writers first appeared in native journals and periodicals, among them The Canadian Forum (1920- ). The McGill Fortnightly Review (1925-1927). The Canadian Mercury (1928-1929), The McGilliad (1930-1931), New Frontier (1936-1937), and Preview (1942-1946). The Montreal poets were involved in the organization of a number of these publications and contributed poems, articles, and reviews to their pages.
