| Abstract |
An exploration of the complex relationship between Canadian and British Methodism in Lower and Upper Canada between 1815 and 1828. There were two groups of Methodists in the Canadas during this period: the conservative British Wesleyans and the more liberal Methodist Episcopal Church, based in the United States. The author focuses on the cultural transformation of the British Wesleyans preachers as they tried to adapt to the North American reality.
