Volume 2 deals with Alexander Tilloch Galt, who began his business career with the British American Land Company, a land-holding company based in Sherbrooke, Quebec. During his political career, A.T. Galt represented English-Protestant Quebec interests in the federal cabinet. He served as Finance Minister in John A. Macdonald's first federal Cabinet.
