On August 30, 1922, the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society of Canada was legally incorporated, with its headquarters on Notre Dame Street in Montreal. The author documents how the JIAS kept constant contact with Canadian authorities, which allowed it to approach the Canadian government on several occasions in the 1930s and 1940s to help Jewish refugees fleeing Europe.
