Analyse économique des politiques linguistiques au Québec : 40 ans de Loi 101
|
Abstract |
Using the economic analysis tools the supply and demand, the author examines the use and value of French and English on the labour market in Quebec over the period 1971 to 2011. His conclusion are that: the knowledge of French has increased in Quebec while the share of French mother tongue population has dropped between 1971 and 2016 (supply); the importance of Francophone employers has increased in Québec between1961 and 2003 (demand); and the socio-economic status of French on the labour market measured by its use and associated earnings has improved between 1971 and 2011, while bilingualism always pays better than unilingualism.
