Understanding the Built Form of Industrialization Along the Lachine Canal in Montreal
|
Abstract |
The Lachine Canal corridor was the birthplace of Canada’s industrial economy in the nineteenth century. By reading the evolution of the artifacts and spatial forms found along the canal, the authors examine the history of Montreal’s industrialization and the working-class communities along the corridor that served the industries.
