Abstract
William Satchwell Leney (1769-1831), a London-trained engraver, migrated to America in 1805 where he earned enough money engraving portraits, landscapes and bank notes in New York City that he was able to move to a farm near Montreal with his family in 1819. He spent the last twelve years of his life farming and doing some engraving.
