Abstract |
A study of the introduction of talking pictures in Montreal between 1926 and 1931, based on film critiques, advertisements for theatres, letters to the editor and editorials in the Montreal Daily Star and La Presse. The Palace Theatre, under the management of George Rotsky, was the first theatre in Canada, and possibly the British Empire, to be devoted solely to sound cinema.
