Trésor d’archives : le livre de paye d’une chapellerie montréalaise au début du XIXe siècle
|
Abstract |
The author details the information found in a 250-page account book, now in the collection of the McCord Museum, that belonged to Abner Bagg, a Montreal maker and importer of hats in the early part of the nineteenth century. The account book contains weekly statements from 1812 to 1819 and reveals various production aspects of the hat industry of the day: the manufacturing equipment and tools, raw material, workforce, division of labour and wages.
