Policies Relating to the Education of Cultural Communities in Quebec
Abstract
The authors argue that there is a different meaning of the concept of intercultural education within French language school commissions and English language commissions. The francophone commissions use the phrase to imply two notions, namely: (a) mutual respect for cultural heritage and identity of peoples of different cultural communities, racial and linguistic origins, and (b) integration into French language and culture. Within anglophone school commissions, the phrase means only (a) above.
