| Abstract |
The author examines the social relationship and interaction between the British garrison and the people of Quebec City between 1839 and 1871. She analyzes the participation of the military in aiding the civil order of the city, and the military's involvement in crime and other civil disorder. The author concludes that the social relations between the garrison and the people of Quebec City during the post-Rebellions era was marked by mutual adaptation.
