La perception de la fête internationale des travailleurs dans les journaux canadiens entre 1906 et 1945
|
Abstract |
The author analyzes the newspaper coverage of the May Day parades by socialist/communist organizations in Canada, and especially in Quebec, between 1906 (the year of the first May Day celebration in Montreal) and 1945. The author concentrates on the different perceptions of these celebrations reported by the English language media and the French language media, focusing primarily on Montreal's The Gazette and Montreal Star, and Le Devoir and La Presse.
