Abstract |
A biography of John Samuel McCord (1801-1865), lawyer and later judge, landowner, officer in the militia, amateur scientist and influential member of Montreal society. The author pays special attention to McCord's attachment and attention to Temple Grove, his home on Côte-des-Neiges Road, and to his instrumental role in the establishment of the Protestant cemetery on the east side of Mount Royal.
