Cross-Cultural Communications in Montreal: Two Field Studies Since Bill 101
|
Abstract |
An examination of the cross-cultural language switching between Anglophones and Francophones in Montreal. The author argues that there are at least three factors that determine language switching between the two groups: characteristics of the interlocutors; interpersonal accommodation; and sociocultural status of the French and English languages in Montreal.
