Abstract |
A description of the fight over municipalization of electrical services in Quebec City waged during the period 1929 to 1934 between Dr. Philippe Hamel (1884-1954), a French-Canadian nationalist, and the Quebec Power Company. The Quebec Power Company was created in 1923 when the Quebec Railway, Light, Heat and Power Company merged with the Public Service Corporation of Quebec. The new company controlled the electricity, gas and transport in the Quebec City and Charlevoix regions.
