The Evolution of Built Landscapes Adjacent to Mont-Royal Park Since 1876 Olmsted's Plan
|
Abstract |
The author studies the evolution of urban forms in Montreal. He notes that in1876, Frederick Law Olmsted developed a park plan for the mountainous terrain of Mount Royal. The author argues that his plan has encouraged the development of the landscapes and enhanced the walkability within three adjacent areas – Westmount, Ville Marie and Le Plateau.
