The Montreal west-island suburb of Kirkland was incorporated as a municipality on March 24, 1961. The Town was named after the Honorable Dr. Charles-Aimé Kirkland, local Member of the National Assembly from 1939 until his death in 1961. Anglophones and Allophones make up the majority of the Town's population.
