With improvements in store design and construction, as well as in the development of customer services and a growing range of manufactured products to sell, Montreal's dry goods merchants evolved into fashion merchandisers and arbiters of taste by the turn of the twentieth century. Among these stores were Morgan's and Gibb and Company.
