Good As Gone: My Life with Irving Layton
|
Abstract |
A memoir by Montreal poet Irving Layton's "fifth and last" wife. At the age of twenty-three, she married Layton (1912-2006), who was forty-eight years older than her. She describes how she shared the entirety of Layton's world and was intimately involved in the writing and publication of such books by Layton as The Gucci Bag, Fortunate Exile, and Waiting for the Messiah. The memoir chronicles Layton's last years as he succumbed to Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's.
