Abstract |
Montreal artist Sarah Robertson (1891-1948) studied at the Art Association of Montreal under William Brymner, Maurice Cullen, and Randolph Hewton before joining the Beaver Hall Group of painters in the 1920s. Influenced by Impressionism, Fauvism and, to a lesser extent, the Group of Seven, Robertson is known for the rich colours of her landscape works. In addition to landscapes, she also made chalk drawings, black and white designs, and painted murals for private houses.
