Abstract
The High School for Girls was established by Montreal's Protestant Board of School Commissioners in 1875. The author outlines the school's curriculum and describes the members of school's staff and its pupils over its first forty years. Their education enabled the girls to obtain the same educational qualifications as boys and their eventual admission into universities and the professions.
