| Abstract |
Chief Justice of Lower Canada Sir James Stuart (1780-1853) had the largest private library collection in the colony before Confederation, with a total of 2,538 titles. The author examines the three editions of the catalogue of Stuart's library, the first published in 1854, the second in 1867, and the third in 1868.
